Rachel and Elsie are at it again! They have an online class starting on September 13th called Small Craft. It’s a 6 week course full of fun things to make for the special little ones in you life. Because I love Fall and it puts me in such a good mood and because I love these girls and the fun things they do I am giving away a spot in their class! There are so many ways to enter, please read over these. You are not limited to just one of these. Do 1, 2, or all of them if you want! Runaway Squash

We have the summer squash down in our main garden taking over. Then up on the hill we have another little garden where the acorn squash has literally jumped out of the garden walls, climbed up the hill and onto our neighbors property!

First Day of School

Today marks the first day of second grade for our oldest. What a sweet girl. What a kid! I can’t believe how big she is! Last night we had an open house at school and she got to see her classroom and meet her new teacher. While she was there she was checking out the books and her teacher told her to take one home and read it if she wanted to. Of course she did and of course Harriet thought she should get one too. Then her teacher told her to get some good sleep, so when we got home Mary only allowed herself to read one chapter of her book because she wanted to make sure she got enough sleep. Silly kid always following the rules.

This morning I got up and put muffins in the oven, went for a walk, and when I came back everyone was still in bed! These girls are usually up at 6:30, definitely no later than 7. On the first day of school, what do they do? Sleep in. I had to wake up Mary to get ready and Harriet? Oh my, i’ts 9 o’clock and she is still in bed! I guess she really needed that. I just feel bad because she will not be happy to wake up and have Mary gone.

Last week I had the honor and privilege to help out a friend bottling his wine. What a fun experience!

Here are some of the barrels he has left. We did a batch of 3 barrels that night.

Here is where the wine fills up all the bottles.

Then his dad, Pops, corks the bottles.

Thanks Lucas for having us all over to bottle your wine. We learned a lot about wine making and had fun doing it!

If you haven’t tried Virgo Moon yet, you better do something about that. It’s now an award winning wine too. Lucas just brought home the bronze in the Mid-American Wine Competition!

Workin’ On Those Night Moves…

On Thursday night the skies were so clear Mandy and I decided to get some star shots. This is looking north east at Cassiopeia and we managed to pick up our nearest galactic neighbor, Andromeda. I sooper-impozed a hubble shot just above our Andromeda. It looks like we caught a satellite flying by as well.

There was plenty of music making in the late night hours.

We found this cool star in the pole barn that Liz thinks must decorate the top of a Silo during Christmastime. It’s cool!

The Farm was so beautifully lit with all the Christmas lights that Jane risked her life and dignity to hang up in the walnut trees. As well as from the Tiki torches that were very thoughtfully placed by a Mr. Timothy Itner.

Saturday Part Two

Saturday afternoon sweet Navi got out her box of dress up to share with the other little girls. All of a sudden there was a swarm of girls around this box dressing and undressing, trying to figure out how everything tied. It was so cute!

Then it was time for a show!

A lot of the kids got together and did a show for everyone. Everybody came too! It was awesome. They took turns singing songs.

After the big show it was time to eat and hang.

Saturday Post One

What better way to start out the day than to take a ride on the Chappy? Everyone got into the fun.

Even me! I loved it and didn’t want to stop. I’m thinking I need one to get around town here.

Family picture day. All of the Tigans in one place, that has to be hard to do! Elizabeth, David, Aaron, Matt, Adele, Michel, Paul, Carla, Jane, Annie, Katie, Dan, Annie, Emelia, Barb, Jacob, and David. Wow, that’s 17 people and man did we have a fun time trying to get everyone minus 6 dogs to pose in this picture. I know you can’t see everyone close up, but this was one of my favorites because of the farm back round.

Here’s our family shot. As soon as I got home I was wishing we would of taken more individual family shots. We will have to remember this for next year.

I missed the afternoon hooping lesson, but there was one person who did not. Her name is Mary. She went from no hooping to going for minutes while holding her Lanie doll. She is a pro and has been hooping everyday since! Thank you super hoopers.

Round Two on the Farm

Well, that was only Thursday folks. Let’s talk Friday now. The day started early with roosters, sheep, and sweet children rising. After everyone had a cup of coffee it was time to feed the chickens and go for a walk.

As soon as everyone was awake it was time to get to work. Aaron had cut down 3 apple trees in the yard so everyone set to work picking up apple after apple after apple and hauling the limbs off to a burn pile. I of course took this as my opportunity to go find the amazing meat store they have and pick up some pork shoulders to be smoked for dinner.

When I returned Carla and I got ready to go out in our kayaks. We had quite an adventure and had some exciting obsticles to get around. It was so fun and definitely worth all the mud! Then it was back to the house to help with the apple situation and finish cleaning up on the hill to get ready for the party!

David’s Birthday was on Sunday so it was double baby birthday celebration!

Up on the Farm

We went to a sahooper farm party this weekend at John’s cousins in Wisconsin. There were so many friends and family that we haven’t seen in a long time. Tons of babies. Lots of farm work, there were no idle hands. Great food. Of course late night picking too. There was also a special visit from the super hoopers.

Our new camera+a farm+beautiful people=996 pictures taken! I have decided to just make this a farm week so I can share a lot of pics everyday.

First things first. John started mowing as soon as we set foot on the farm.

While John was mowing Harriet and I headed up to the garden to pick beans.

By the time we got there she changed her mind, but I still had a lot of fun picking.

Soon, we started multiplying with more family…

Everyone is real happy when Aaron gets off of work.
